INSTRUCTORS
Violet Swanner
Violet is an oil painter and illustrator from Northern Arizona. Her works are mainly accomplished in the traditional Flemish method, with a contemporary surrealist edge. She began painting as a child and was consistently encouraged by family and teachers to pursue art as a both a skill and a passion, resulting in a simultaneously disciplined and open approach. As a traveler from a young age, syncretic culture has had a profound impact on Violet's world-view. Influence of myths and symbology can be seen clearly in much of her work, as well as a distinct homage to place. Violet's aim as an art teacher is to provide students not only with the instruction to hone their rendering of any subject, but also a highly encouraging atmosphere in which to access deeper creativity.
